Over the past decade, researchers have developed a variety of reliable real-time and archival instruments to study sounds made or heard by marine mammals and fish. These new sensors are now being used in research, management and conservation projects around the world with some very important practical results. Among them is improved monitoring of endangered North Atlantic right whales in an effort to reduce ship strikes, a leading cause of their deaths.

PTC 2010The total Norwegian offshore market in 2010 is some NOK 177 billion. How much of this is directed towards technology development, and how does the current reluctance in driving on new projects affect the willingness for the oil companies to invest in new technology?

This is the main focus on SPE's 5th annual Petroleum Technology Conference (PTC) in Bergen. Apart from an interesting programme with top lecturers, all conference delegates will be invited to a series of events like Icebreaker party, entertainment at the OTD lounge and the famous OctoberFest.

How will this affect the need for cost reduction and more efficient technical solutions?

The SPE Norway's 5th annual Petroleum Technology Conference (PTC), a must for everybody who delivers technological solutions to the NCS operators, will highlight this essential question. Through lectures from leading oil companies and technological suppliers SPE Norway's 5th annual Petroleum Technology Conference will demonstrate how technology and practical solutions could add billions of dollars to the bottom line.

This year's conference shows that offshore drilling and subsea are obvious targets for cost savings, and that new and innovative suggestions can make a clear difference.

The conference is held in Bergen October 14th - 15th 2009 - click to view full program!

Vast amounts can be saved in more efficient data handling. Practical use of the enormous data streams available through model based analysis is another area which also could impact efficiency and cost. What are the cost saving possibilities within logistics, offshore and coastal transport? The conference will address practical examples of improvements in this area. The needs and opinions of the large operators like StatoilHydro, ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips will also be heard.

Where are the opportunities for the operator? Is there an upside for the supplier to propose solutions that may reduce cost, and eventually reduce the same suppliers' revenue? Do they have the courage to introduce fresh solutions, let alone game-changing technology, when most are primarily aimed at running daily businesses on lower oil prices?

Offshore Technology Days 2010

Vision: To provide a unique meeting place for players in the oil and energy industry!

Offshore Technology Days (OTD) started in 1999 with a seminar at AGR in Straume to which 7 companies were invited. Since then, OTD has become Norway's second largest oil & energy industry exhibition after ONS in Stavanger. From 1999 to 2006, OTD was arranged in Straume outside Bergen. Offshore Media Group (OMG) took over responsibility for organising the event for AGR in 2005. The first exhibition organised by OMG in 2006 had 120 exhibitors and 3,000 visitors.

In 2007, OMG decided to move OTD to the Arenum Exhibition Center in Bergen. With more than 200 stands and over 8,000 visitors, 2007 was regarded as a breakthrough for OTD. The accompanying Octoberfest event was also a huge success with 1,200 participants from among the exhibiting companies.

But it is not only size that makes OTD a unique meeting place for suppliers and operators in the oil and energy sector.

The reason so many companies come back year after year and why so many new players are applying is because OTD offers the perfect venue for forging new contacts and cultivating existing ones. In short, OTD gives results.

OTD is dimensioned so that all exhibiting companies have a chance to participate in our famous Octoberfest social event on the opening day of the exhibition. The social framework around OTD is designed to give "value added interaction" and provide participants with an opportunity to meet in less formal surroundings.

OTD is a meeting place where a convivial atmosphere provides the right conditions for discussing future cooperation plans and business projects.

In combination with OTD, we at OMG also organise a variety of co-events such as conferences, seminars and student arrangements.

Welcome to OTD in Bergen!
